National Bike Summit
Skip Humphrey, Tim Mitchell, Steve Clark spoke at the second annual Minnesota Bike Summit, as the 2009 bicycling season began in Minnesota.
The Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota was held on April 25, 2009, at Quality Bicycle Products in Bloomington, MN 55438. The exciting program this year featured guest speakers:
•Skip Humphrey, AARP Board Member, spoke about why AARP and their 40 million members are into Complete Streets and Active Living programs that include bicycling.
•Tim Mitchell, the new Mn/DOT State Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, discussed how bicycling and walking fit into the state transportation plan.
•Steve Clark, Transit for Livable Communities Walking and Bicycling Program Manager, spoke about the 12 Strategies to Improve Conditions for Cycling.
Immediately following the summit, the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota convened its first Annual Meeting open to members and the public. The meeting included reports from Executive Director, Dorian Grilley, committee chairs, and an election of the Board of Directors.
After the summit and meeting, there was a pizza lunch, tours of Quality Bicycle Products and a bike ride hosted by the Twin Cities Bicycling Club and the Hiawatha Bicycle Club.
