As communities across our state attempt to cope with the climate of fear and uncertainty stemming from the escalating presence and actions of federal border agents, BikeMN stands resolute with other leading organizations in a movement towards community connection and resilience.
This goes far beyond just the horrific killing of Renee Macklin Good last week.
Public spaces belong to everyone. Violence has no right to space on our roadways. Immigrants are the bedrock of America and deserve safety, respect, and due process. They deserve what we all deserve: To live their lives in peace and to move around in our collective communities without fear of abduction and harassment.
Minnesota prides itself in being a welcoming home for people of all backgrounds, from every corner of the country and the world – be that a family who moved from Kansas City and Colorado, who fled a civil war in East Africa, or persecution in Southeast Asia, or who came from Central America to work hard towards a brighter future.
We all belong here – Our winters are cold but our people are warm.
Our immigrant friends and neighbors or those who are subject to harassment based on their skin color can use our support. As volunteers we can help get kids to school safely or deliver food to folks who are fearful of leaving their homes – We encourage you to get involved with organizations where you live.
