Ride for Rent FAQs | April 11, 2026

What is the Ride for Rent? The Ride for Rent is a joyful way to raise funds for neighbors in need across Minneapolis. All types of riders and bikes are welcome! The group ride will follow a fixed route of about 14 miles in a slow-roll, no-drops fashion, with stops along the way and ending at Arbeiter Brewing Company at 3038 Minnehaha Avenue around 2:00 pm.

Where does the ride start, stop, and end?

  • 10:30 am — Meet at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in the parking lot by the splashpool
  • 11:00 am — Roll out, heading east on 40th Street bicycle boulevard
  • ~11:45 am — Stop at Wooden Ship Brewing
  • ~ 1:00 pm — Stop at Midtown Global Market
  • ~2:00 pm — End at Arbeiter Brewing Company, 3038 Minnehaha Ave.

I’m interested in participating in the Ride for Rent! What’s my first step?

I want to start spreading the word and fundraising right away. What do I do next? You have two choices:

  • Use our base GoFundMe link: Spread the word and ask friends and family to direct their support to our base GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ride-for-rent-minneapolis-rental-assistance-fundraiser
  • Create a peer-to-peer GoFundMe link: For a more personalized approach, set up your own GoFundMe fundraiser for the Ride to Rent, which enables you to personalize your message and set your own goal. See details on setting up your GFM in our Fundraising and Promotion Toolkit (look under Step 1).

Can I ride with a cargo bike, trike, or e-bike? Yes, absolutely! The Ride for Rent is open to all types of folks, all types of bodies, on all types of bikes and trikes.

I want to fundraise but can’t ride on April 11. What can I do? There are still great ways to get involved! Here are two options:

  • You could give to a friend who is riding or to the general NHN fundraiser at this link.
  • You could ride at a different time this month, or even multiple rides across the month — April is 30 Days of Biking, after all! Just set up a fundraiser using this link and the tips from our Fundraising and Promotion Toolkit and make it clear in your fundraiser language the different timing of your ride(s).

I’m game to ride on April 11, but the timing or route won’t work for me. No problem! Feel free to ride a different route at the time and location of your choosing that day, and set up a fundraiser using this link and the tips from our Fundraising and Promotion Toolkit

Where does the money go? Neighbors Helping Neighbors has been working with a council of neighborhood rent relief funds to meet needs as they arise. As needs are ever-evolving, NHN will distribute the funds to those groups most in need.

Will there be stops along the way? Yes! We will stop at a few local businesses you can support along the way that are doing the same work we are, or whose values align with our fundraiser’s goals. At the places we stop, we want to support the businesses, give riders a chance to patronize them for a refreshment or snack, while also respecting that the businesses may be tight on staff or space — we don’t want to overwhelm them! Here are the planned stops:

  • Wooden Ship Brewing (~11:45)
  • Midtown Global Market (~1:00)
  • (endpoint) Arbeiter Brewing Company (~2:00)

I’m not experienced with group rides. What do I need to know? We expect a mix of riders with group riding experience and those who are newer to group riding. We’re planning a casual pace of 8-10 mph. Ride organizers are experienced at keeping people safe on the roads and paths.

What are the riding expectations? Riders should follow the rules of the road. When on two-way bike lanes or paths, please remain on the right side of the path to leave space for oncoming riders. We will stay together and cross at signals together.

What is the exact route?

Below is the route. Due to construction on the 10th Avenue South Bridge, we may need to follow a detour from the Midtown Greenway largely using 28th Street.
