The Major Taylor Metric Century — Choose Your Glory 100, 62, 32 mile+ Brunch

Overview

62 miles at 7 or 8 AM, or 32 miles at 10 AM. All roads end at a gourmet brunch by 12:30. Fully supported. Choose your glory.

The Major Taylor Metric Century — Choose Your Glory In 1896, an 18-year-old Major Taylor rode 1,732 miles in six days and lost — and rode straight into history anyway. Now it’s your turn to find your number. 62 miles or 32. Fast group or steady. Fully supported roads, one finish line, and a gourmet brunch waiting on the other side.

Marshall “Major” Taylor was eighteen when he made his Madison Square Garden debut in 1896, entering a six-day race that broke grown men. He rode 1,732 miles. The winner, Teddy Hale, rode 1,910. Taylor didn’t win.

He became a legend anyway — because what the crowd saw wasn’t a placing, it was a teenager refusing to quit in front of a country that had already decided what he was allowed to be. He went on to become a world champion and one of the most significant athletes of his era, in the teeth of the Jim Crow years.

The lesson isn’t win. The lesson is find your number and go get it.

So today, choose your glory:

7:30 AM — under 15 mph. You get the extra half hour because you’ve earned the same brunch. Steady, supported, unhurried.

8:00 AM — 15 to 18 mph. The heart of the field. Rotating groups, good company, real miles.

8:30 AM — over 18 mph. Disciplined paceline, hungry legs, last out and probably first in. You know if this is you.

32 miles — 10:00 AM. The half. Same roads, same support, same finish line, on a timeline that fits a real Sunday.

We stagger the waves by pace so everyone arrives at the same table at the same time. That’s the whole design: the fastest rider and the slowest rider sit down together.

Every group is targeting the same thing: rolling in between 12:00 and 12:30 for a gourmet brunch we take seriously — because a hard morning deserves a real table.

Full support all day: sag vehicle, mechanic, water and fuel stops, marshals at every turn, and a sweep who will not leave you.

Your distance. Your pace. Your glory.
