Transit Visions: Abroad

Space is limited, registration required.

Thanks to the work of Move Minnesota, Move Minnesota Action, and partners and community members, Metro Transit has new resources and has taken important first steps in making our buses and trains faster, more frequent, and more reliable.

But we’ve also seen opponents work hard to carve away at those resources and undermine that vision for quick and convenient service, arguing that improvements aren’t necessary. As we continue pushing for transportation that works for everyone, it’s as critical as ever to have a clear, compelling vision for how the Twin Cities transit system can improve the quality of life in our communities and meet people’s daily needs—from expanding access to school and jobs, to helping people keep more of their hard-earned dollars for the family budget.

Join us on June 24 for Transit Visions: Abroad, a conversation about using transit while living daily life in cities around the globe, and the future of public transit here in Minnesota. We’ll talk with Move Minnesota Executive Director MJ Carpio, housing and transportation advocate Janne Flisrand, and BikeMN Board Chair Reyna López about their experiences with transit in places like the Philippines, England, Mexico, Switzerland, and elsewhere. What role can transit play in daily life? What can we learn from the successes and failures of other systems? What challenges have other cities had to overcome? And how can we take those lessons learned and apply them to our own vision for transit right here in the Twin Cities?

Thanks to our friends at the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota for co-hosting!
