Next Day Animations, Willmar CVB, and River Rider Cycle named Bicycle Friendly Businesses by the League of American Bicyclists

[MINNEAPOLIS, MN] — Today, the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) recognized Next Day Animations with a Silver Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) award along with River Rider Cycle (Wabasha) and the Willmar Lakes Area Convention & Visitors Bureau with Bronze awards, earning them a place among over 1,400 businesses nationwide that are committed to building a more Bicycle Friendly America. 99 Minnesota companies have been recognized as BFBs by the League of American Bicyclists (LAB), helping place Minnesota as third across the nation in bicycle friendliness.

“As a strategic communication company, we pride ourselves on amplifying voices through messaging and content that’s engaging and fun. We try to bring that same spirit to our daily work culture as well. We’re thrilled to be recognized as a Bicycle-Friendly Business as it further demonstrates our commitment to the health and well-being of our team, our clients, our communities, and our planet,” said Sage Dahlen, Productions Director with Next Day Animations.

Next Day Animations, Willmar CVB, and River Rider Cycle join 75 other new BFBs in the League’s Spring 2020 round of business awards, which also include renewals for Hennepin County, Central Lakes Cycle in Fergus Falls, and one of the highest ranked BFBs in the country, Quality Bicycle Products in Bloomington.

“It is great to see the many ways that businesses all across our state are embedding bicycle-friendliness to the core of their business model in creative and innovative ways,”
said Dorian Grilley, Executive Director of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota. “There are so many reasons to support a bike culture for both employees and customers, and the Bicycle Alliance is eager to help employers become part of this movement and make our businesses and communities stronger, safer, and more connected through bicycling.”

The Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) consults with organizations on the road to becoming a Bicycle Friendly Business — helping them apply for an award, renew their status, or enhance their bicycle friendliness by recommending equipment like bike racks and fix-it stations, educational programs, and more. Later this month, BikeMN will be hosting a free virtual discussion with businesses who have been recognized or that have renewed their award to share their insights about the BFB application and process. As part of the BFB network, businesses will have access to a variety of tools and technical assistance from the League to become even more welcoming to people who bike.

Through this BFB program, employers across the country are recognized for their efforts to encourage a more welcoming atmosphere for bicycling employees, customers, and the community. When employees bike, great things happen: decreased carbon footprint, reduced healthcare costs due to a healthier lifestyle, and a fun and healthy work culture, to name a few.

Deserving businesses are recognized at the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels and all applicants receive valuable feedback and assistance in becoming more welcoming to bicycling.
