U.S. Bicycle Routes

U.S. Bicycle Route 41

The North Star Route – From St. Paul to Grand Portage State Park (315 miles). Nearly half the route is on paved trails and the northern part closely follows the North Shore of Lake Superior.

U.S. Bicycle Route 45

The Mississippi River Trail – Between the Mississippi River’s origin at Itasca State Park to the Minnesota/Iowa border (817 miles).

Explore Minnesota

From the nation’s best urban trails in the Twin Cities to rural rail-trails through lush forest or wild prairie, Minnesota’s 4,000+ miles of paved trails are a cyclist’s dream. Many bike trails are along former railroad beds, offering secluded, scenic biking. Some of the longest paved trails include the Root River, Paul Bunyan and Central Lakes trails. Minnesota Trails Magazine

Published quarterly in cooperation with the Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota, a non-profit organization that acquires, protects and enhances critical lands for public enjoyment. Their website provides a statewide trail map, mountain biking and bike shop listings.

MN Mississippi River Trail (MRT)

Coursing along America’s premier river, from its headwaters in Itasca, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, the MRT offers a unique north-south transect of the United States to adventurous bicyclists. Although the majority of the MRT is routed on roads, embedded are significant off-road trail opportunities to delight almost any user. MRT, Inc. has published a high quality guide book for cyclists seeking to bicycle the MRT through all 10 states. The guide lists lodging, camping and dining tips and provides a unique “cyclist’s” perspective.

Adventure Cycling

Adventure Cycling researches and produces cycling maps for the Adventure Cycling Route Network – one of the largest route networks in the world at 38,158 miles (and growing). They publish Adventure Cyclist magazine, lead bike tours and work on bicycle advocacy projects such as the U.S. Bicycle Route System.

Rails to Trails

With more than 1 million grassroots supporters, 24,000+ miles of rail-trails on the ground nationwide and more than 8,000 miles of rail-trails ready to be built, Rails to Trails focus is on linking these corridors—creating trail networks that connect people and places, bringing transformative benefits to communities all across the country. Flagship initiatives include:the Great American Rail-Trail™, TrailNation™ and TrailLink.com.

Bicycle Tour Network

The Bicycle Tour Network is a service that matches touring cyclists with the best tours available. The Bicycle Tour Network is provided by the National Bicycle Tour Directors Association (NBTDA), an organization of bike-tour professionals founded in 1990. Collectively the Bicycle Tour Network represents hundreds of multi-day, non-competitive bicycle tours.

Day Tripper of Duluth

Day Tripper of Duluth offers guided mountain, gravel road, and road bike tours in Duluth and the surrounding area for all ages and skill levels. We offer 3 or 6 hour tours that combine bicycling and outdoor education. Our tour prices include bike rental, so even if you don’t have a bike you can still get outside! 

Looking for a multi-day tour? Day Tripper of Duluth offers fully-outfitted overnight bike camping trips in the Superior National Forest. Your guide(s) will plan a route tailored to your riding style. Enjoy the pristine Northern wilderness as you pedal rarely used gravel roads and trails. After your day of travel, your evenings will be spent relaxing by the campfire while your guides set up camp and prepare delicious meals for you.

Each GooseChase game has a list of missions for participants to complete. You can create your mission list using our bank of 100+ tested missions or by designing your own from scratch.

Missions have a name, description, point value and an optional link or photo to provide extra information. For text & gps missions, the answer and target destination must also be provided.

Turfgame

Turf combines elements from traditional orienteering with elements commonly seen in many video games, such as a leveling system, leaderboards and achievements.
