LCI Certification Seminar (BIPOC-specific)

About this event

We are excited to announce our second Black Indigenous and People Of Color (BIPOC) led and focused LCI Seminar in partnership with The League and Minnesota Platinum Bike Friendly Business, Quality Bicycle Products (QBP)! This seminar will be led by BikeMN friend and national bike education legend, Neil Walker.

In order to begin the LCI seminar, you need to have previously completed the Smart Cycling Complete Class (formerly Traffic Skills 101). All candidates MUST complete the class with an 85% or better at least three weeks prior to the LCI seminar.

NOTE: Full Scholarships Available!

BikeMN expects that experienced bicyclists are seeking certification. This class is meant primarily to focus on how best to teach bicycling education – this weekend is not about learning how to ride safely, it’s about teaching. Attendance at all seminar hours is mandatory and does not guarantee certification.

Successful candidates will have a strong working knowledge of bikes and bike maintenance and a great deal of experience riding in high traffic scenarios. Successful candidates also have strong core values aligned with philosophies of the League, including helmet use, bicycling infrastructure, and full incorporation of the idea that all people who ride bicycles are equal cyclists, regardless of political affiliation, race, gender, age or religion and that all students deserve respectful, polite and meaningful instruction.

The LCI Training will be the evening of Friday, October 14, and all day Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th.
