WTF (Women, Trans, Femme) LCI Seminar

We are excited to announce the return of our League Cycling Instructor Training.

About this event

We are excited to announce that BikeMN will be hosting a League Cycling Instructor Training in August for WTF (Women, Trans, Femme) identified folks!

In order to begin the LCI seminar, you need to have previously completed the Smart Cycling Complete Class (formerly Traffic Skills 101). All candidates MUST complete the class with an 85% or better at least three weeks prior to the LCI seminar.

LCIs are expected to maintain their League membership annually ($40 and the minimum LAB required hours per year in a bicycle-related educational activity) and their annual LCI renewal fee ($25). BikeMN annual membership is included for active Minnesota LCIs.

BikeMN expects that bicyclists are seeking certification. This class is meant primarily to focus on how best to teach bicycling education – this weekend is not about learning how to ride safely, it’s about teaching. Attendance at all seminar hours is mandatory and does not guarantee certification.

This LCI Seminar is creating a space dedicated space for women, and individuals who are trans, as well as/or non-binary, gender-nonconforming, and intersex. This seminar will be led by Jan Matheus, League Cycling Coach. All instruction and assistance will be provided by women/trans/femme individuals.

Successful candidates will have an interest in bikes and bike maintenance and experience (or a desire to gain experience) riding in high traffic scenarios. Successful candidates also have strong core values aligned with philosophies of the League, including helmet use, bicycling infrastructure, and full incorporation of the idea that all people who ride bicycles are equal cyclists, regardless of political affiliation, race, gender, age or religion and that all students deserve respectful, polite and meaningful instruction.

A limited number of scholarships available. Contact angela@bikemn.org to learn more.
